Once again brilliant tutor Kenneth le Riche will walk us through the portraiture process, working with a live model. Suitable for all levels from beginner onwards, over two days you will develop your own distinct style of painting. All materials, a light lunch and refreshments provided for only £150 for the 2-day course in Kincraig, Highland. More details from Kenneth below:
“Beginning with drawing in paint, you will build up a knowledge of the head and how to create a likeness of the sitter. Learning how to work on top of an abstract acrylic under-painting, you will be shown how your work can contain elements of both abstraction and representation, and will be encouraged to find a balance that reflects your own sense of expression and how you see the world.
Alongside an awareness of mark-making, texture, colour and composition, we will consider how the tension between abstraction and representation can add a sense of poetry to our portraits.
The workshop will start with an introductory powerpoint presentation where artists such as Rembrandt, Cezanne, Stanley Spencer, Lucien Freud, Frank Auerbach, Tai Shan Schierenberg and Jenny Saville amongst others will be looked at as guiding lights.”
Past students say: “Thoroughly inspired, I loved every minute of it, such a great class. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!” and “Exciting, creative and fast paced” and “Incredible – I absolutely loved it!”
